Key findings include:
- 72% of business officers are confident their institution will be financially stable over 5 years
- 51% of business officers believe their institution is in better financial shape now than it was in 2019
- More business officers at private nonprofit institutions (44%) indicated that a lack of adequate data and analytic capability is a significant obstacle to a sustainable financial future, compared to business officers at public institutions (27%)
Inside Higher Ed’s 2023 Survey of College and University Business Officers was conducted by Hanover Research. The survey included 217 chief business officers from public, private nonprofit and for-profit institutions.
